The question of individual identity in relation to its environment takes the form of a personal world. The disasters that disrupt our human reality create a feeling of detachment between the self and the surrounding universe — from our personal environment to the collective, and far beyond. It is this separation from the real world that gives rise to a parallel dreamlike space. However, when reality intrudes into this alternate universe, tensions emerge.
