IDIOPHONE XII

IDIOPHONE XII, Musique Meuble

Musique Meuble is the project of Florent and Romain Bodart, two Belgian artists from a family of luthiers. Working at the intersection of sound, image and interactivity, their practice combines craftsmanship, sound devices and digital technologies to create playful and accessible experiences.

With Idiophone XII, they invite visitors to compose their own rhythms using twelve sound-producing objects mechanically activated by hammers. Through an accessible controller, visitors can set the tempo of each object and shape the evolving composition.

Part collective instrument, part sound sculpture and part experimental playground, Idiophone XII transforms the public’s gestures into an evolving musical creation where rhythm, listening and play come together.
