New Chapter: Mapping the Invisible

After a successful three-month run of our first exhibition dedicated to immersive and virtual reality art and storytelling, Le Pavillon opens the summer season with a whole new program: Other Worlds Are Possible – Chapter 2.

Introducing seven new works, this compelling selection of some of the most daring and multi-awarded video and VR experiences dives deeper into themes of introspection, memory, and encounters with the invisible. From poetic personal stories to bold political statements, we invite you to discover immersive worlds that reflect our fears, aspirations, and inner conflicts. Battlescar (starring Rosario Dawson) pulses with the energy of 1970s New York punk through the eyes of a teenage girl searching for freedom. Goliath, narrated by Tilda Swinton, explores mental vulnerability and social connection in the age of video games. With The Hangman at Home, Danish animation artists Michelle and Uri Kranot place us face-to-face with our own responsibility in moments of moral reckoning.

Some works reach for a cosmic scale to explore our inner landscapes — both physical and spiritual — like Evolver, a meditative, multisensory take on the breathing body guided by the voice of Cate Blanchett, or The Great Filter, a monumental video installation by the stunning emerging Taiwanese visual artist Wen-Yee Hsieh. Others confront us with the violence of the real world, such as Traveling While Black, a documentary dive into American racial memory by the legendary Canadian studio Felix & Paul, or Over the Rainbow, a sombre and playful, David Lynchian reflection on desire and the illusion of control.

With this second chapter, Le Pavillon continues its exploration of virtual reality as a medium for artistic expression by highlighting creators who work with the raw material of emotion. These works act as poetic filters: distorting and reshaping perception, they prompt us to look again — more closely, more thoughtfully — at what we believe we know.
